Panorama of Toledo Showcasing the Sublime Alcazar

Madrid is one of my favorite cities in the world.  When I find myself there, I enjoy embarking on at least one excursion outside of the city.   Toledo, a short train ride away, boasts a rich historical tapestry woven into its stunning architecture.  Climbing the bell tower at the Church of San Ildefonso is a must.  Here, the entire city unfolds before you in breathtaking panorama.  This piece features a view of the Alcazar against the backdrop of a milky white sky.  A former Roman palace, it was rebuilt and restored several times, most recently after experiencing significant damage during the Spanish Civil War. Summer Afternoon at Buttermilk Falls in the Adirondacks

Feeling gripped by mid-winter’s chill, I find comfort reliving past summer adventures. Today, I’m remembering an August day taking a leisurely drive through the back roads of upstate New York on my way to Montreal. Along the way, I paused for a refreshing dip at Buttermilk Falls, a popular waterfall in the Adirondack Mountains near Long Lake, NY Summer Afternoon at Buttermilk Falls in the Adirondacks

Forbidden City from Jingshan Hill During a Dust Storm

The view of the Forbidden City in Beijing from Jingshan Hill is truly spectacular on any day.  On this particular March afternoon, strong winds blowing from the Gobi Desert caused a dust storm over northeastern China, creating some unique and interesting lighting conditions that I was fortunate to capture. According to The Lonely Planet, the hill serves as a feng shui shield to protect the palace from evil spirits and dust storms. Forbidden City from Jingshan Hill During a Dust Storm

Salzburg, Do-Re-Mi

I’ve had this piece featuring Salzburg’s Hohensalzburg Fortress overlooking the Mirabell Palace gardens waiting  to be finished for quite awhile.  Last night, I saw The Sound of Music for the first time and was inspired to complete it.  The ending of “Do-Re-Mi” takes place at this exact location, which makes it even more special.  Merry Christmas! Marina City in Chicago

The Marina City towers are my favorite buildings in Chicago.  I always wondered what it would be like to live there, and in my imagination, it was something like in The Jetsons.  This piece provides more detail of one tower up close and displays the promenade on a clear fall day, but doesn’t allow the viewer to forget that there is a twin. Almost Tropical at Grattan Beach in Galway

Galway, Ireland is the major city in one of the two areas I consider to be my “ancestral homelands” (the other being the area around Naples, Italy), and it was a pleasure to visit.  During what passes for a summer day there, I visited the harbor and beach in cool, breezy weather that changed from showery to cloudy to sunny multiple times.  During a brief sunny spell, I captured an image that seemed almost Caribbean! Magnificent Istanbul

Taken after I ascended to the observation balcony of the Galata Tower, “Magnificent Istanbul” displays just a piece of The Queen of Cities’ visual grandeur.  In the foreground, the Galata Bridge spans the Golden Horn, the major inlet of the Bosphorus.  Across the bridge, the Yeni Cami Mosque stands prominently, while the Nuruosmaniye Mosque looms directly behind it.   Magnificent Istanbul

Harvest Moon Rising Over Ortley Beach, NJ

My family often vacationed in Ortley Beach at the Jersey Shore, during September, just after Labor Day.  The season was ideal, much calmer and less crowded.  One particular September evening after sunset, we were treated to the full Harvest Moon rising over the ocean.  The lighting and shadows in this piece give it the feel of a painting. IFC 2 – A Beacon of Light in Hong Kong Amidst the Haze

I’ve traveled to Hong Kong over a dozen times and lived there one summer.  The city’s modern architecture is legendary, though frequently shrouded in smog.  This photograph captures the IFC2 tower on the Kowloon side, undimmed by the smog and glowing in the sunlight, reflecting light into Victoria Harbor and the Star Ferry terminal.  It stands out as a beacon of light amidst the haze. https://indigoartistic.com/product/ifc2-a-beacon-of-light-in-hong-kong-amidst-the haze

Rio de Janeiro – Ipanema, Leblon & Dois Irmaos (Two Brothers)

The beach at Ipanema is one of my favorite spots in Rio de Janeiro.  From my hotel room, I enjoyed this exquisite view of three of the city’s iconic locations – the magnificent beaches of Ipanema and Leblon, and the monumental Morro Dois Irmaos (Two Brothers’ Hill).    Rio de Janeiro – Ipanema, Leblon & Dois Irmaos (Two Brothers)
