The view of the Forbidden City in Beijing from Jingshan Hill is truly spectacular on any day. On this particular March afternoon, strong winds blowing from the Gobi Desert caused a dust storm over northeastern China, creating some unique and interesting lighting conditions that I was fortunate to capture. According to The Lonely Planet, the hill serves as a feng shui shield to protect the palace from evil spirits and dust storms.
