I’ve traveled to Hong Kong over a dozen times and lived there one summer. The city’s modern architecture is legendary, though frequently shrouded in smog. This photograph captures the IFC2 tower on the Kowloon side, undimmed by the smog and glowing in the sunlight, reflecting light into Victoria Harbor and the Star Ferry terminal. The beach at Ipanema is one of my favorite spots in Rio de Janeiro. From my hotel room, I enjoyed this exquisite view of three of the city’s iconic locations – the magnificent beaches of Ipanema and Leblon, and the monumental Morro Dois Irmaos (Two Brothers’ Hill). A friend and former colleague from Chongqing, China took a day to show me his city. One of the highlights was this view of the Hongyadong Commercial Street at night, framed by Qiansimen Bridge and the World Financial Center, with the Jiefangbei office towers in the background.
