My family often vacationed in Ortley Beach at the Jersey Shore, during September, just after Labor Day. The season was ideal, much calmer and less crowded. One particular September evening after sunset, we were treated to the full Harvest Moon rising over the ocean. The lighting and shadows in this piece give it the feel of a painting. I’ve traveled to Hong Kong over a dozen times and lived there one summer. The city’s modern architecture is legendary, though frequently shrouded in smog. This photograph captures the IFC2 tower on the Kowloon side, undimmed by the smog and glowing in the sunlight, reflecting light into Victoria Harbor and the Star Ferry terminal. The beach at Ipanema is one of my favorite spots in Rio de Janeiro. From my hotel room, I enjoyed this exquisite view of three of the city’s iconic locations – the magnificent beaches of Ipanema and Leblon, and the monumental Morro Dois Irmaos (Two Brothers’ Hill).
