Hiking in the Pyrenees near Vall de Nuria (Spain)

In “Hiking in the Pyrenees Near Vall de Nuria”, I traveled via regional train from Barcelona to Ribes de Freser, where I transferred to the Nuria Rack Railway.  The rack railway is the only way to reach the remote Vall de Nuria, which was quite cold even in May and still experiencing snow. The area is primarily known for skiing, and the railway terminates at the ski lodge. In spring, it’s a base to hike in the surrounding mountains, though the trails can still be slippery with snow and ice.  I hiked up one of the nearby trails to capture a view of the lodge, nestled by towering green mountains glazed with a bit of snow.
